Le gouvernement de l’Ontario a réduit en avril dernier de 133 millions de dollars le budget de l’AJO. La province interdit par ailleurs aux services d’aide juridique d’utiliser son financement pour traiter des dossiers de demandeurs d’asile.

During a joint media availability with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at CFB Petawawa, Trudeau stopped short of calling Trump’s remarks racist.

La Liégeoise venait d’arriver à Zarzis, en Tunisie, et elle a découvert un cadavre sur la plage”. Au cours du reportage, on comprend que ce sont des corps de migrants échoués sur la plage qui sont en cause : ils viennent gâcher les vacances d’une touriste belge, qui demande à changer d’hôtel.

De nouvelles données du gouvernement fédéral démontrent que moins de demandeurs d’asile sont entrés « irrégulièrement » au Canada par rapport à l’année dernière, bien qu’une légère augmentation ait été enregistrée en juin. En juin, les agents de la GRC ont intercepté 371 migrants de plus qu’en mai, alors que ceux-ci tentaient de se rendre au Canada en provenance des États-Unis entre les postes frontaliers officiels.

Whenever Hamid needs to ask for something at the charity organization Matthew House, he types the words in Persian into Google Translate on his phone, hits enter and shows the English phrase to staff. Hamid, a refugee claimant who doesn’t want his identity revealed for safety reasons, came to Canada via a smuggler from Iran five months ago. Unable to speak English, he’s used Google Translate to get by. “It helps me find the word I’m looking for,” said Hamid through his interpreter Mojde Jaberifard.
