They are forced to accept whatever private health insurance their university offers. At Concordia, that provider is Blue Cross, and their prices of health insurance for international students are the most expensive in Quebec.

The Globe and Mail – Border-Crosser Arrests Drop Steeply in B.C., Rise Elsewhere

Statistics recently released by the federal government say 207 asylum seekers were apprehended by the B.C. RCMP in January, compared with 245 arrests in Quebec and 19 in Manitoba. But while the numbers jumped in Quebec and Manitoba the following month, B.C. saw a sharp decline. In February, Quebec had 432 people intercepted by police, Manitoba had 142 and B.C. saw 84. The data did not indicate precisely where in the provinces those arrests were made.

Global News – Overwhelming Majority of Canadians say Refugee Rules must Change: Ipsos Poll

Over 90 per cent of Canadians think the government’s current approach to dealing with asylum seekers in Canada needs to change, a new poll from Ipsos reveals. While respondents to the survey were sharply divided on exactly how the rules should be adjusted, just 8 per cent said they were content with the status quo as more and more asylum seekers make their way across the border illegally.
