Members of the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society in Prince George, B.C., have voted to investigate the society’s operations during a contentious annual general meeting Saturday. The publicly-funded organization provides resettlement and support services for immigrants and refugees in central B.C. Problems started when executive director Baljit Sethi, who founded IMSS forty years ago, refused to report on the society’s operations.

Spanish police say migrants have attempted close to 500 illegal border crossings in just one month by trying to hide on passenger and cargo boats landing on its southern coast. Authorities said Saturday they had registered these entry efforts departing from Spain’s North African enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, after a monthlong police operation last year aimed to reduce the number of stowaway migrants setting foot on mainland Spanish ports like Almeria, Malaga and Motril.
CBC – Immigrant Women’s Integration Network Expands in Edmonton
A free program helping newcomers find jobs and adjust to life in Edmonton is expanding. The Immigrant Women’s Integration Network or I-WIN launched three years ago. It’s currently based out of the Welcome Centre for Immigrants in Millbourne Market Mall in Mill Woods.Next month classes will begin running at a second location in the west end at the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers complex at 10030 167th St. So far, I-WIN has helped close to 400 women, according to program coordinator Elauna Boutwell.
