A seniors advocate says many Chinese and South Asian elders experience unique challenges when it comes to abuse and more resources are needed to support them. Krista James of the Canadian Centre for Elder Law says seniors from those communities are sometimes bound by barriers ranging from language to immigration policy. London Free Press – Complaint Signed by About 20 Syrian Refugees Takes Aim at Settlement Agency
A London MP has asked the federal government to investigate a complaint signed by more than 20 Syrian refugees who say they were mistreated by the city’s main settlement agency. Staff at the London Cross Cultural Learner Centre (CCLC) — the agency that settled more than 900 Syrians since December — “did not do their duties as they should,” states the letter.
