Ce chiffre représente une explosion des besoins de 72% entre 2014 et 2017, a relevé le Haut-Commissaire de l’ONU pour les réfugiés.
Un regroupement d’églises évangéliques qui parrainent des réfugiés syriens au Canada renvoie ses membres à des sites Internet qui cherchent à convertir les musulmans au christianisme. Cela soulève d’importantes questions sur la possibilité que certaines églises puissent considérer l’idée de parrainer des réfugiés — déjà placés en situation de vulnérabilité — comme une occasion de faire du prosélytisme.

Le Ministère avait déjà reçu à 12 h 58 le nombre maximal de demandes pour cette période, soit 5 000 demandes, via son service en ligne Mon projet Québec.

When the Romero House first opened its doors in Toronto’s West Bend neighbourhood, Johanne Wilkins remembers the area’s mostly white residents were not thrilled about the idea. But on its 25-year anniversary, the refugee settlement centre isn’t just celebrating a milestone. It’s also celebrating the transformation of a community whose own residents have opened their homes to newcomers in need of help as they transition to a new life in Canada.

Mexico is struggling to stem the flow of Central American migrants traveling to the United States ahead of the U.S. presidential election, causing major concern in Washington, which is weighing sending more agents to help.
