Plutôt que de tenter à tout prix de traverser la Manche, les migrants de la jungle de Calais auraient intérêt à s’installer en France, où le système d’asile est relativement protecteur, estime le quotidien de gauche. On savait que transférer les habitants de la “jungle” vers de nouveaux hébergements en dur n’allait pas être facile pour le gouvernement français.

CBC – Europe Refugee Crisis: Up to 10,000 People Stuck at Greece-Macedonia Border

On foot or by taxi, hundreds of exhausted refugee families trying to reach Western Europe flocked Tuesday to a burgeoning tent city on Greece’s border with Macedonia, which has not allowed anybody in for 24 hours, citing a similar policy by Serbia further north.

National Post – Liberals to Scrap Two-Year Delay Before Spouses from Overseas Win Permanent Residency

The federal Liberals are about to remove one of the major components of the previous government’s campaign against marriage fraud that typically involved immigration applicants from China and India. Immigration Minister John McCallum was quoted in The Hill Times newspaper saying he plans to move in “a matter of months” to fulfil a 2015 election promise to end the two-year probation period before overseas spouses sponsored by their Canadian partners obtain permanent residency status.

CBC – Syrian Refugee Matching Fund to Fall Short of $100M Maximum

The dollars are still being counted, but the amount of money donated by Canadians for overseas Syrian relief efforts will likely fall well short of the maximum $100 million the government had promised to match. Monday marked the final day for Canadians to give money for Syrian aid in order to ensure those dollars were matched by the federal government.
