Radio-Canada – Des récoltes de la Saskatchewan en aide aux réfugiés syriens
Un groupe de fermiers de la Saskatchewan fera don de ses récoltes à l’aide internationale, notamment pour nourrir ceux qui fuient la Syrie. Six fermiers de la région de Naicam-Spalding, à 200 km de Saskatoon, se sont regroupés afin d’offrir le profit de leurs récoltes à la Banque canadienne de grains, qui distribue de l’aide humanitaire dans le monde. Une trentaine de groupes de fermiers de ce genre existent en Saskatchewan et on en retrouve 260 à l’échelle du pays.

Un étudiant international de l’Université Dalhousie, à Halifax, affirme qu’il en a assez des commentaires racistes qu’il entend à gauche et à droite dans la communauté. À un point tel qu’il songerait même à quitter la Nouvelle-Écosse, une province de la côte est du Canada. L’étudiant s’est confié au réseau anglais de Radio-Canada de façon anonyme parce qu’il craint les répercussions que peuvent engendrer ses déclarations.

Germany is to push for more ambitious and extensive common European Union policies on the refugee crisis, according to policymakers in Berlin, with compulsory and permanent quotas for sharing the distribution of probably hundreds of thousands of people who will arrive directly from the Middle East. Also on Berlin’s agenda are new European powers replacing some national authority over border control, and the possible raising of a special EU-wide levy to fund the policies.

York Regional Police are investigating a series of phone scams — targeting seniors and the Southeast Asian-Canadian community — that defrauded several people of amounts ranging from several hundred dollars to $65,000 Canadian. Callers originally claimed to be officials with the Canada Revenue Agency — but they’ve switched tack and now claim to be Canadian immigration officers.
