The Guardian Charlottetown – PNP Intermediary Transferred Millions Offshore, Owes Million in Taxes

A firm that brokered immigrant investments in P.E.I.’s Provincial Nominee Program transferred $10 million to an offshore account and now owes over $3.2 million in unpaid taxes, according to documents filed in federal court by the Canada Revenue Agency. […]Intermediaries matched local businesses with immigrant nominees, who then invested between $110,000 and $200,000 on P.E.I. They, in turn, received landed immigrant status. The intermediary companies made approximately $10,000 to $15,000 per investment unit.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada News Release – More than Four Million Visitors Helped by New CIC Online Help Centre

More than four million people have been helped by Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s new online Help Centre since it was launched just six months ago, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced today. […] The new online Help Centre is part of a growing suite of online Web tools available on the CIC website. This includes the Come to Canada site, which helps potential immigrants to Canada determine the immigration programs they may be eligible for. Also, the new interactive Living in Canada tool for newcomers helps them adjust to life in Canada and find services, including an interactive map that allows people to find settlement organizations in their area.

La Presse – Une famille risque d’être déchirée

Un triste compte à rebours s’est amorcé pour une famille trifluvienne qui risque d’être déchirée, le 20 juin prochain, alors que le père sera forcé de quitter sa femme, enceinte de jumeaux, ainsi que son bambin de 16 mois puisqu’il ne parvient pas à obtenir son statut de résident permanent au Canada. Originaire de la Côte d’Ivoire, Abou Fofana a en effet reçu un avis officiel du ministère de l’Immigration du Canada, le 29 mai dernier, qu’il allait être expulsé vers son pays d’origine puisque le Canada refuse de lui ouvrir ses portes.
