Le gouvernement du Manitoba permettra à 3175 nouveaux arrivants qualifiés de bénéficier du Programme des candidats du Manitoba en 2023. Au total, 9500 désignations pourront donc être accordées par la province. Dans un communiqué publié jeudi, le ministre du Travail et de l’Immigration, Jon Reyes, précise que l’initiative vise à contrer la pénurie de main-d’œuvre dans la province, notamment dans le domaine de la santé. En 2022, 6367 candidats ont été sélectionnés grâce à ce programme, un nombre record depuis son lancement, en 1998, comme le précise le ministre.

Global News – Atlantic Canada Immigration Ministers Say They Are Prepared to Welcome Asylum Seekers

Immigration ministers from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador say they are committed to welcoming asylum seekers who have entered Canada outside official ports of entry, mostly through the Roxham Road crossing in Quebec. Following a meeting of federal, provincial and territorial ministers in Halifax, federal Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said Friday he’s unable to put a number on how many asylum seekers the four Atlantic provinces could take in.

CBC News – As Many as 9,500 Skilled Immigrants Can Now Be Nominated to Come to Manitoba Through Provincial Program

The provincial government will allow a record number of skilled immigrants to come to Manitoba in 2023 to address critical labour needs, including in health care. Manitoba Labour Immigration Minister Jon Reyes announced in a Thursday news release the province is creating 3,175 new nominations through the provincial nominee program. Last year, out of a pool of 13,030 candidates, a total of 6,367 immigrants were nominated, the highest since the program’s inception in 1998, Reyes said previously.

Global News – Canada’s Ukraine Visa Program Is Set to Expire this Month. Will Ottawa Extend It?

Canada’s immigration minister will “soon” have an update on the future of an emergency visa program for Ukrainians fleeing Russia’s war as calls grow for the government to announce an extension. The Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel program (CUAET), which expedites visas and temporary residency permits for Ukrainians and their families, is set to expire March 31.
