Le gouvernement du Manitoba s’engage à augmenter l’immigration francophone dans la province. À cette fin, elle participe au salon Destination Canada qui a lieu en France et au Maroc au cours des prochains jours. Une proportion faiblissante de Manitobains parlent français à la maison, et le français est la première langue officielle parlée par un nombre décroissant d’habitants, selon le recensement de 2021. La Société de la francophonie manitobaine a longtemps souligné l’importance de l’immigration francophone pour contrer ce recul.
CBC News – This Afghan Refugee Arrived in Sask. Last Year. Now He Is on a Mission to Help Other Newcomers Feel at Home
Hardly two hours before the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul was bombed on Aug. 26 last year, Najibulla Sorosh was there with his family. A month later, he arrived in Saskatchewan. Now he is helping other Afghan refugees resettle. Sorosh, 47, said he understands their plight. Last week, a charter flight of 350 Afghan refugees landed in Saskatoon, with 221 staying in Saskatchewan. Twenty-eight of them are settling in Prince Albert and receiving help from Sorosh, a settlement counsellor at the local YWCA.
CBC News – Pakistan Warns Paperless Migrants About Jail Time, Alarming Afghans Waiting to Come to Canada
Pakistan is threatening to throw people in jail for up to three years if they do not renew their visas by the end of 2022. The process costs applicants hundreds of dollars each — putting families that escaped Afghanistan and the Taliban with little or no money at a serious disadvantage. A video ad produced by Pakistan’s Ministry of the Interior has been streaming on government social media channels and on television since the start of October.
Global News – Saskatchewan Prepares to Welcome More Ukrainian Refugees
The flight is expected to bring over 200 refugees to the province and bring the total number of displaced Ukrainians to have arrived in the province to 2,300. Elena Krueger, president of the Saskatchewan provincial council of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress said the introduction of more Ukrainian immigrants to the province only further deepens the connection we have with Ukraine.
Toronto Star – ‘This Is Our Only Hope’: Undocumented Migrants Risk Arrest to Make Their Case in Ottawa
The federal government has been developing a regularization plan — one of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s mandates for Immigration Minister Sean Fraser since December — to address the issue of undocumented workers in precarious and exploitative jobs, and tackle an underground economy. The town hall scheduled for Monday at an undisclosed venue in Ottawa is a final push to lobby parliamentarians to go for an “uncapped and inclusive” plan that can benefit as many of those who have fallen through the cracks and out of status in the complex and at times disjointed immigration system.

L’Association canadienne-française de l’Ontario – Conseil régional des Mille-Îles (ACFOMI) joue un rôle prépondérant dans l’accueil et l’intégration des immigrants francophones dans la ville ontarienne de Kingston.
