The province is spending $6.4 million a year on immigrant settlement services without a “strong understanding” of whether the money is helping to keep them from moving elsewhere, Kim Adair said in a report released Tuesday.

In 2020, the City of Winnipeg adopted the Newcomer Welcome and Inclusion Policy. Reuben Garang, executive director of Immigration Partnership Winnipeg, says the policy was co-created by his organization and the city. The intent was to make sure there was a policy in place to guide newcomers in Winnipeg to available resources. But fast forward to today, and Garang says the policy has yet to be fully funded or implemented by the city.
Global News – ‘Very Emotional’: Chinese-Canadian Veterans Honoured Ahead of Remembrance Day
Ahead of Remembrance Day, a group of Chinese-Canadian youth paid tribute to Canadian veterans at the Chinese-Canadian Military Museum in Vancouver’s Chinatown on Sunday. Even though they had long faced racism in Canada, approximately 200 Chinese-Canadians volunteered for the Canadian army during the First World War. More than 600 Chinese-Canadians served in the Second World War.
