Already, there are signs of strain. A slaughterhouse in Quebec opted to euthanize thousands of chickens that couldn’t be processed this week, blaming rising COVID-19 infections among employees as well as federal delays processing temporary foreign worker applications for its protracted staff shortage.
Globe and Mail – While Afghan Judges Await Entry to Canada, Their Visas Face Expiry Deadlines in Greece
Immigration Minister Sean Fraser’s office is unable to say how much time Canada will need to finish processing the resettlement applications of 55 female Afghan judges, prosecutors and their families who are stranded in Greece on expiring short-term visas. The women and their families have been told that Canada will take them in, but they are still anxiously waiting for updates. The federal government has not told them how long it will be before Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada issues its decisions on their cases.

The report — by the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria — is based on in-depth interviews with 20 immigrants about their experiences navigating the legalities of employment, housing, immigration and both family and criminal law.
CTV News – Soon-to-Be Canadians Waiting in Vain to Hear About Their Citizenship Applications
A large number of immigrants say they’ve been waiting months to hear back from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) about whether or not they will soon become Canadian citizens. Parandis Haghnesarfard and her husband, who passed their citizenship tests in January 2021, say they feel like they’ve been left out in the cold by the Canadian government. It’s been one year and the couple says they still don’t know if they will be called to take their oaths.
