Ce partenariat communautaire visera à fournir des services de soutien aux arrivants qui ont été formés à l’étranger, mais qui ne peuvent travailler dans leur domaine. Un montant maximal de 15 000 $ pourrait être alloué.

Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen said the Rainbow Refugee Assistance Partnership, which began as a pilot project in 2011, will expand from bringing 15 refugees per year to 50 starting in 2020. The government is pledging $800,000 over five years to provide start-up costs and three months of support to LGBTQ refugees privately sponsored by Canadians, Hussen said Saturday. “It’s fantastic actually to see this happen,” said Kelly Ernst, with Calgary’s End of the Rainbow Foundation.

Le gouvernement fédéral élargit un programme offrant un soutien aux réfugiés parrainés par le secteur privé dans la communauté LGBTQ. Le ministre de l’Immigration, Ahmed Hussen, a indiqué samedi que le « Rainbow Refugee Assistance Partnership » s’appuiera sur un projet-pilote lancé en 2011. Le programme offre un soutien pour les coûts de démarrage et trois mois de revenus aux réfugiés lesbiens, gays, bisexuels, transgenres, queers et bispirituels parrainés à titre privé par des Canadiens.
