Le Voyageur – Le PAENNO outille les immigrants noirs pour le développement de leurs activités entrepreneuriales
Un peu plus de quatre mois après son lancement officiel, le programme d’appui aux entrepreneurs noirs du Nord de l’Ontario (PAENNO) a organisé la première édition du symposium d’affaires dans l’objectif de donner du pouvoir à ses bénéficiaires. Des experts de différents domaines commerciaux ont livré des informations sur le fonctionnement de l’écosystème entrepreneurial dans le Nord de l’Ontario le 29 novembre. Initié par l’Association du patrimoine afro-canadien de Sudbury, le projet est financé par FedNor à hauteur de 1,2 million $. Ils veulent fournir des solutions aux entrepreneurs noirs qui n’ont pas accès à certaines ressources.
L’ACFO du grand Sudbury est satisfaite des victoires qu’elle remporte année après année pour la francophonie sudburoise. Pour la seule employée, la directrice générale Joanne Gervais, «c’est ce qui me donne le courage de continuer», a-t-elle mentionné lors de l’assemblée générale annuelle du 1er décembre. En 2022-2023, les priorités de l’ACFO du grand Sudbury seront la 25e St-Jean, le projet d’université de langue française dans le Moyen-Nord et la mise en œuvre du nouveau plan stratégique.

The alleged scam is now the subject of a potential class-action suit that is making its way through the B.C. court system. The lawsuit contends that the actions of the alleged perpetrator of the scam were not only financially ruinous for the workers – most of them migrants from Mexico – but resulted in some of them unknowingly working without visas while waiting for their work permits to be processed. This meant that they were losing their opportunity to apply for genuine immigration status in Canada.

Canadians born outside of the country are less likely to vote in municipal elections, according to the City of Calgary. And it’s trying to do something about that. This month, city officials are launching an online survey, focus groups and consultations with immigrant organizations to find out what’s keeping newcomers away from the ballot box.

A transgender teen from Ireland who had been facing removal from Canada due to an immigration error made by his family has won a short stay in his case — he can apply for a risk assessment to explain the family’s concerns he could face discrimination, bullying or violence in his home country. Adam Tyrrell Haslam’s small victory comes after the 19-year-old’s family began a legal fight in September to try to stop Canada from deporting the young man.
National Post – Visa Issues at COP15 Biodiversity Summit in Montreal Could Stem from UN Delays
The COP15 conference on biodiversity loss is underway in Montreal, but hundreds of delegates from developing countries are missing out due to visa issues that could stem from the United Nations issuing late accreditations. “It was pretty disappointing to get rejected,” Pervez Aly, a prominent youth activist, said in an interview Wednesday from Pakistan. This past summer, the federal Immigration Department caused an uproar when it denied visas for multiple African delegates for the International AIDS Conference, also held in Montreal.
