Jusqu’au début de 2018, les demandeurs d’asile avaient accès aux garderies subventionnées. Le gouvernement du Québec a décidé d’en appeler d’une décision de la cour rendue il y a un peu plus d’un mois qui permettait aux demandeurs d’asile de recouvrer l’accès qu’ils avaient perdu aux garderies subventionnées. Cette annonce suscite l’ire de plusieurs organismes qui se sont mobilisés au cours des quatre dernières années pour que les familles immigrantes visées puissent récupérer ce droit.

Today, Villa Charities Inc. (VCI) is proud to announce the Villa Charities Italian Canadian Immigrant Tribute project, to honour Italian Canadian immigrants and their families. The Immigrant Tribute commemoration will be located on the Villa Charities campus at Lawrence and Dufferin streets in Toronto, as an installation on the north-facing wall of the Columbus Centre. The tribute wall, designed by Brown + Storey Architects Inc., will showcase name plaques honouring individuals of Italian heritage who journeyed to Canada to begin a new life.

Le Devoir – Un « petit nombre » de demandeurs d’asile ont été transférés du Québec à l’Ontario
Depuis le 30 juin, Ottawa a commencé à transférer un « petit nombre » de demandeurs d’asile vers Ottawa et Niagara Falls pour réduire la pression sur le Québec, a déclaré lundi un porte-parole d’Immigration, Réfugiés et Citoyenneté Canada sans donner de détails. « Le nombre exact de demandeurs d’asile avec un voyage ultérieur vers l’Ontario n’est pas définitif pour le moment », a déclaré Aidan Strickland dans un courriel.
