Le gouvernement fédéral veut créer une nouvelle plateforme numérique pour l’aider à traiter plus rapidement les demandes d’immigration. La pandémie actuelle a souligné la nécessité de passer à un nouveau système. Dans le budget 2021 présenté récemment, Ottawa prévoit de dépenser près de 429 millions de dollars au cours des cinq prochaines années pour mettre en place cette plateforme qui remplacera progressivement le système de gestion actuellement en place.
CTV News – London, Ont. Man Pleads for Expedited Spousal Visa for Wife and Five-Month-Old Baby
Londoner Vikas Kaushal applied for a spousal visa for his wife, who lives in India, in January of 2020, but more than a year later, the process is still not complete. In February, Kaushal received a letter he thought meant the process to bring his family to Canada was nearly complete. So Kaushal, who hadn’t been with his daughter since her birth, travelled to India in February awaiting approval. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has caused delays in the process and now all three are still in Delhi amidst the catastrophic wave of the pandemic hitting the country.

D’une part, le formulaire comprend de nouvelles questions pour mieux identifier les ayants droit ; d’autre part, une nouvelle directive permettra à Statistique Canada de mieux calculer le nombre de Canadiens qui pourraient souhaiter avoir des services en français.

Les longues démarches administratives et les attraits promis par d’autres provinces amènent toutefois de plus en plus d’infirmières étrangères comme elle à envisager de quitter le Québec. Au total, cette procédure prend, à l’heure actuelle, près de trois ans, dont 27 mois uniquement pour l’étape fédérale.

In March, the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) released a report revealing that middle managers are key to creating workplaces that are inclusive of immigrants. TRIEC works with organizations in the Greater Toronto Area to address immigrant underemployment. According to Make or Break: How Middle Managers and Executives Can Build Immigrant-Inclusive Teams, one-off diversity and inclusion training is not enough.
CBC News – ‘It’s Literally a War Zone:’ Colombians in London on the Edge as Deadly Protests Continue Back Home
Colombians in London, Ont., are watching in horror as Colombia marked its eighth day of deadly, anti-government protests on Wednesday. The demonstrations, which were originally held in opposition to a now-cancelled tax reform, have turned into a loud cry for action against police violence, poverty and inequalities in the health and education systems. “It’s been very difficult to watch,” said Nataly Caicedo, a Colombian-Canadian with immediate family in the Western city of Cali, which has become a focal point for protests.
