Le document d’IRCC indique que le ministère doit faire preuve de plus d’ouverture d’esprit et d’autocritique en réponse aux reproches comme ceux qu’il a reçus au sujet de la façon dont le gouvernement a traité les réfugiés ukrainiens cette année par rapport aux Afghans fuyant les talibans en 2021.

Exaspérés, ils s’organisent pour tenter de faire pression sur les autorités canadiennes. Les étudiants font depuis peu circuler une pétition demandant au premier ministre Justin Trudeau « de faire quelque chose afin de remédier à cette situation ».

Cricket was a sport barely heard of in northern Ontario when Tarang Ingle first moved to Sudbury from Gujarat, India in 2009. After some searching, he learned of a group of students at Cambrian College who shared his passion for the sport. For years, the group played tape-ball at the college – amateur cricket using a tennis ball wrapped in tape to make the ball heavier. As the number of players at Cambrian began to grow, Ingle, along with three other players, decided to start the Big Nickel Cricket Club in Sudbury.

Global News – Arrests Made in Canada Day Attack on Ukrainian Immigrants in Winnipeg
Two men and a teenaged boy have been charged in connection with a violent attack that saw a Ukrainian refugee stabbed in the neck during Canada Day celebrations in Winnipeg. Police have previously said they were called to Israel Asper Way, near the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, around 10:45 p.m. on July 1. Officers found two male adult victims in their twenties, one who had been bear sprayed and another who they said was “bleeding profusely with a life-threatening” injury.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada document released this week says the department needs to be more open-minded and self-critical in response to criticisms like those it received about the government’s handling of Ukrainian refugees this year compared to Afghans fleeing the Taliban in 2021. “It sounds like there’s a lot of good intentions and good initiatives, but exactly what this will lead to? It’s not clear,” said Janet Dench, executive director of the Canadian Council for Refugees.
