Parmi les points négatifs, la firme spécialisée en immigration mentionne le fait que plusieurs personnes parlent français au Canada. La publication de MDC Canada a suscité une vague de réactions au sein des communautés francophones au pays. L’entreprise explique que la publication en question a été rédigée par un collaborateur extérieur à la société, précisant que le message n’a pas pu être vérifié par le rédacteur en chef ayant été hospitalisé au moment des faits.

Toutes catégories confondues, le gouvernement n’a admis que 25 000 immigrants en 2020, soit à peine plus de 50 % de sa cible de 44 500. En octobre dernier, il a d’ailleurs prévu un rattrapage d’au moins 7000 personnes cette année, en plus de l’objectif annuel.

The Coopérative d’intégration francophone of Prince Edward Island (CIF) announced the new program will be available for immigrants with permanent Prince Edward Island residency status through a partnership with Language Learning Centre of the Community College of New Brunswick (CCNB). The release said CCNB has been designated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to offer free French courses to immigrants who are permanent residents or refugees.

Research shows that there has been a significant increase of hate crimes against Asian-Canadians since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with major cities seeing crime rates that are six and seven hundred percent higher than the previous year. According to live data from Fight COVID Racism, there have been 891 reported incidents of anti-Asian hate crimes across Canada as of mid-day March 17.
